Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Reporting

It is that time of the year again when staff have been working incredibly hard to provide you with an accurate picture of your child’s approach to learning, and their progress to this stage of the year.

Mid-year reports will be sent home with students on Wednesday 29 June.

The new look report will show your child’s learning achievement differently.  A new
9-point visual scale replaces A-E ratings for students in Years 1 to 10 (and for Prep students at the end of the year). Option or elective classes will continue to be assessed against a 5-point scale.

The 9-point scale will show more specifically where your child’s learning achievement is against the expected standard for their year level.

There will be no teacher comments on the report. Parent/teacher conferences will be offered in Week 10. These are a great opportunity to discuss how your child is progressing with their learning.

Parent/ teacher discussions will occur across the following dates and times:

  • Monday 4 July:  3.15pm - 4.30pm
  • Tuesday 5 July:   3.15pm - 6pm
  • Wednesday 6 July:  3.15pm - 4.30pm
  • Thursday 7 July:  3.15 – 4.00pm
Please note there may be variations of these times for part time staff.

Please take the opportunity to book a time via the Schoolzine App, a link will also be provided on our Facebook page, or alternatively contact the administration staff on 6491 8222. This year due to the ongoing Covid concerns, we are also providing the opportunity for parents to request a phone call at a specified time.

Covid Update

Encouragingly, the number of COVID-19 cases in our community are declining. This means that we can now start gradually reintroducing activities – such as whole school assemblies indoors – in a COVID-safe way.

We aim to hold our first assemblies early into term 3, parents and carers are welcome to attend. All adults will need to physically distance where practical, and there will be a designated space for parents and carers, separate to students and staff.

The requirement to wear masks in schools will also cease from Monday 27 June 2022. Students, staff and visitors are supported to continue to wear face masks if they choose to. Face masks are still available at school if you need them.

If you’re a close contact, you are still required to wear a face mask indoors as per current Public Health advice.  From time-to-time our school might also identify activities or situations where masks are required to be worn. We ask for your support when this happens and know that it is in the best interests of our students, staff and our school community.

You will also notice more off-site excursions starting to occur, however please know that sometimes circumstances may change quickly. We will let families know of any changes, and we appreciate your flexibility if activities are cancelled or modified at short notice.

A reminder that it is important that we continue to implement the following Covid safety measures to assist with managing case numbers within our school and keeping people safe.

  • Maintain 1.5m physical distancing for adults
  • Maintain regular hand hygiene

An important reminder, especially as we move into the cold and flu season, to please continue to stay at home if unwell.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.

Cross Country

Since our last newsletter we have conducted both our Primary and Secondary cross-country events. It has been great to be able to edge slowly back towards some normality and in doing so provide our students with such opportunities to participate and shine in these endurance running events. Thank you to all staff, but particularly our HPE staff for their organisation and support of these events. More extensive reports and photos included in this newsletter.
